Production Operative – Fabrication / Welder

Our client is looking for production operatives to join their team based in Burton Latimer.

We are recruiting for their Fabrication and Welding areas, some experience in these areas would be useful but they are happy to train the one who has a desire to learn the skills to work in this team.

The main purpose of the Fabrication role is to cut, punch and fold materials to the specification, drawings and instructions to produce quality products in line with the daily plan.

The main purpose of the Welder role is to fabricate extruded and folded materials and bond weld using MIG or TIG processes to the specification, drawings and instructions to produce quality products in line with the daily plan.

 

 

Shift:

8 am to 4:30 pm

2 pm to 0:00 am – Monday to Thursday

 

 

Pay rates will depend on your experience:

£9.70 - £11.72

 

Key Tasks - Fabrication:

 

  • Cut sheet material on the Guillotine to the required size and profile
  • Cut sheet material on the Turret punch/programming
  • Fold material on the Brake Presses to give the correct forms
  • Cut extruded materials and prepare welding or gluing
  • Use of hand tools / pneumatic saws
  • Bond materials using the gluing process
  • Carry out first off inspection to confirm set up and programme accuracy
  • If in doubt seek clarification from supervision
  • Support the development of a right first-time culture
  • Report errors from feeding processes
  • Carry out the operator maintenance and housekeeping programme as required
  • Ensure housekeeping is at expected standards
  • Support the training of others on process you are competent on
  • Support the quality investigation process
  • Complete timesheets accurately

 

Key Tasks – Welder:

 

  • Bond material using MIG or TIG welding processes or gluing process
  • Linish welded components to give the required surface preparation for painting
  • Use hand tools
  • Carry out first off inspections to confirm set up and accuracy
  • If in doubt seek clarification from supervision
  • Support the development of a right the first time culture
  • Report errors from feeding processes
  • Carry out the operator maintenance and house keeping programme as required
  • Ensure housekeeping is at expected standard
  • Support the training of others on processes you are competent on
  • Support the Quality investigation process
  • Complete timesheets accurately

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Minimum 12 months experience of working in a busy production environment
  • Able to read and understand engineering drawings to produce quality parts
  • Knowledge and understanding of general engineering processes
  • Ability to use measuring equipment
