Tackling New job Nerves.

Tackling new job nerves!

We can all relate to those new job nerves, its completely understandable. It’s a new environment, new routines, new faces / people. It’s a lot of change to take in in all at once.

Fox Resourcing is here to help you with those new job jitters and ensure they don’t affect how you present yourself on your first day.

Remember they chose you!

Out of all the applications for the role, they chose you to be a part of their team and take their business forward. It’s so important to remember this when you’re feeling those nerves taking over. Your new boss has faith in you, otherwise they wouldn’t have chosen to hire you. Remember this when you feel those new job nerves kicking in.

Remember not the only one.

When you’re being introduced to all of your new colleagues in the office, keep in mind that they have all been in your position. Everyone can empathise with you and understand how you’re feeling.

We are all a newbie at some point, within in a week or two you will start to settle, form a routine and find your feet.

Have a plan ready.

A lot of the time, the reason that you’re nervous about starting a new job is because everything is unfamiliar, you have no sense of routine just yet.

Its great to have a plan in mind before you start your new job, so you aren’t going into it completely blind.

Set yourself some goals to achieve within your first one, three or even six months at the business and how you’ll try to achieve them. This will give you something to focus on and make you feel like you’re in control of the situation and calm your nerves.

Think about previous successes.

Chances are this won’t be the first time you’ve started something new; you’ve done this before  starting college, uni, another new job etc.

You will have felt exactly the same in all of those situations, but you overcame them and soon settled in before you knew it. It is important to remind yourself of this when you’re feeling anxious or nervous. This won’t be the last time you’re doing something for the first time either, but instead of it filling you with dread, you should be excited about the challenges ahead and determined to succeed.
